The second-hand marketplace Users Express Frustration Over Sizing Modifications
Vinted users have been reacting angrily after an update resulted in products showing incorrect sizing.
This online marketplace has updated its size classifications for women's and children's garments without notifying all users about the change.
Social Media Response
Numerous buyers and vendors are posting online saying Vinted listings now show an altered size classification compared to what was initially listed as a result of the reclassification.
Vinted explained the updated approach better aligns with other platforms.
It has advised users to review their products and adjust the sizing manually when needed, which has left users frustrated.
Measurement Approach Changes
Earlier, the measurements included numerical and alphabetical indicators, for instance S/8 or M/10.
The updated approach includes a letter and a range like S/UK 8-10.
With some products, the size labels have been reassigned - for example a size L used to be a 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.
User Accounts
A fashion influencer, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult".
"Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," the way the service now categorizes.
Stephanie Gallen, from Glasgow, explained products she uploaded with size 14 tags were showing in the marketplace as measurements 20-22.
"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they may become frustrated," she explained.
Necessary Adjustments
Charlotte Lunn, from Derby, explained she became annoyed because the modification necessitated personal updates the measurements for "each individual item".
"Personally, this is quite irritating, as I'm chronically ill and platform income has been essential following partial earnings loss," she explained.
Service Background
The app has more than 100 million members, including 18 million in the UK.
It has proved a popular alternative to second-hand platforms like eBay and Depop.
This represents another occasion where an unanticipated change on the platform has faced criticism: earlier, the service retracted a modification to its shipping options after backlash from users.
